Top five things you must consider before booking your wedding photographer

The Photographer’s Personality

The reality is, the you might spend more time with the wedding photographer than any other vendor.  It starts with the initial email and through all of the planning, the engagement photography session, almost the entire wedding day, choosing artwork for your home, album design and everything up to final delivery.  Your wedding photographer is a major part of the overall wedding process.  You simply cannot ignore how critical the right photographer is.  This is why at our studio we won’t accept a client for wedding photography until we have been able to see them and talk about us and about what matters to them.  We need to make sure we’re a great fit.  Someone this important to your wedding cannot be ignored.

Cost

Cost without a doubt is an important part when you’re researching and selecting your wedding photographer.   However, cost should never be the only thing you consider when selecting your wedding photographer.  Nobody is immune to knowing someone who had a nightmare after selecting a photographer based solely on cost.  When you read articles on the one thing brides wish they had spent more on, photography, is commonly the number one thing on list.  This is the one thing that will be left to hold for years after your day.  Make the right investment.

Wedding Albums

When the wedding is over, how do you plan to show your friends and family the amazing images?  We believe that a custom designed wedding album is the only answer.  This album becomes your first family heirloom and every photographer should offer one to their clients.  The album should really be able to showcase the personality of the wedding, not just with the images, but in the album itself.  We offer albums that have sixty leather options, all important from Italy, crushed velvet liner because details matter, ultra thick lay flat pages, and enough pages to tell the complete story of your wedding day.  By offering a variety of sizes, and countless cover options (metal, acrylic and two-tone leather options) we can create an album that showcases your personality.

Coverage

It is so important to discuss with your wedding photographer the timeline of your day and how much time you think you need to capture your story.  From here you can compare what is being offered versus what the photographer offers.  We think that to tell a full story of the day you will want a photographer from the process of getting ready through the key moments of the reception.  Your photographer is hired to capture the key moments of the day so make sure they are around to capture the entire story.  Most of our clients find that 8-10 hours is the appropriate amount of wedding photography coverage.  Be cautious of a photographer who isn’t clear about exactly how much coverage is offered, only to add it at the last minute for a fee.

Two Wedding Photographers?

Your wedding day will be full of candid moments and details you should consider having two photographers for wedding coverage.  And don’t be fouled by two photographers becoming one photographer and one assistant.  The second shooter will capture all of the complimentary photographs and candid moments while the primary photographer is directing the day.  Having two photographers helps us ensure that we are exceeding all of your expectations of a Guelph wedding photographer.
