Bellamere Winery was the setting for Jessica and Chris’s October wedding. From start to finish, everything about the wedding was picture perfect! I knew from the moment I photographed their engagement photos at Cherry Beach in Toronto, that their wedding was going to be one for the books. Jessica and Chris are truly two of the most genuine people I have ever met and I felt like I was lifelong friends from the moment I met them. It was my utmost pleasure to have photographed their big day and I wish them all the happiness in the world.
Chris and I had been talking for a few weeks before going out on our first date at the symposium cafe in Guelph. We met in the fall of 2016. He was a grad student at the Veterinary College at the University of Guelph and I was a part-time registered nurse both in surgery and in mental health.
Jessica answer: Being a Nurse in the medical world all you ever do is work to help patients live their best life; you forget about yourself and you put others first, no matter what. When I met Chris, he challenged the very essence of who I am; a workaholic. He forced himself into my heart and made me realize there is more to life than just work. He challenged me on my behaviours and challenged me on the meaning of life. I knew Chris was the one when he changed my life perspective. Chris challenges me every day to be the best version of myself that I can possibly be without an ounce of judgement. He keeps me honest and accountable. No matter how crazy he drives me, life wouldn’t be the same without him. That’s how I knew he was the one. Chris’ answer: I knew she was the one about 1 month into the relationship. This was because of a one of a kind personality that was unrivalled by anyone else. A perfect combination, of loving, driven, and passionate. She was very responsible and driven to accomplish her dreams and goals. It was quickly very apparent in the first few “life” conversations we had.
Chris’ answer: The proposal was in the planning for ~1 month. I had gotten her immediate family (mother, brother, and dog (Charlie) along with 2 of my best friends (Robbie and Jeramy) in on it. I got the mother and brother to plan the distraction, while me and the friends set it up. I wanted to make the moment of transition from bf/gf to fiancé to be at a place where our passion first started. I was nervous, but more so focused on making it a proposal that would never be forgotten. Jessica’ answer: I had just gotten accepted into the master in nursing – nurse practitioner program at the University of Windsor and my family had told me they wanted to take me out for dinner to celebrate. Chris had told me he had some errands to do during the day and he’d just meet us at the restaurant. I was in the car with my mom and my brother, I was sitting in the back putting on my make up when I realized this route seemed awfully familiar. My brother reassured me that the restaurant is around this area. There’s a park near Paris, Ontario where we went for our third date that holds a lot of significance for us as our relationship developed. The more we drove the more the route looked like the way to this park. After 35 mins of driving, we arrived at the park where I see Chris and Charlie, a blanket, candles and a bunch of red roses. I was desperate and nervous to get out of the car. I ran to Chris and asked him what is all this?! That’s when he poured his heart out to me in front of my mom, my brother, his friends and my baby boy charlie (our dog) and got down on one knee and asked me to put up with him for the rest of my life. I didn’t see this coming, he totally surprised me! My mom captured this on video and she took pictures too. It was a very memorable proposal.
Jessica’s Answer: Chris has this way of making me laugh until my abs hurt! I could be having the worst day of my life, feeling low and depressed and Chris always manages to make me laugh. He picks me up when I’m down and he always makes my happiness his priority. He truly is a southern charmer. Chris’ answer: Chris loves the inspirational drive and determination to reach life’s dreams and goals.
Jessica’ Answer: Laughter has been in the biggest theme in our relationship and that being said I am looking forward to seeing Chris’ reaction when he sees me for the first time as his Bride as I walk down the aisle to him. Chris answer: Besides being married Chris is looking forward to our first dance on our wedding day.
Our relationship inspired my wedding vision. November 2016 is when I realized that Chris and I have a bright future together. The night was filled with magic, magical feelings, romantic lighting, string lights everywhere and the feeling of love in the air. We spent a weekend in Toronto to go to the Toronto Christmas Market and it was that night where I fell head over heels for him. I knew at that moment that I have found my forever with someone who means the world to me and that I can’t picture a future without. I plan on recreating that night, romantic lighting, string lights and all kinds of love. When our guests walk into the venue they will be walking into a page of our storybook witnessing the beauty of romance
I wish I would have known how confusing wedding planning can be! As you start wedding planning you realize that your vision changes along the way and you end up second-guessing certain decor or colours often. Best advice is to hire a decorator! They help a ton.
