As a destination wedding photographer, I have photographed weddings from Jamaica, Costa Rica, and Cuba several times and I love capturing everyone’s unique wedding story on a fairytale destination. Destination weddings are not restricted to all-inclusive resorts. It applies to any “destination” such as everywhere from Calgary and Kelowna area to Halifax and Prince Edward Island.
There are countless reasons why it’s better to bring a photographer to your destination wedding but here are a few:
First and foremost, quality and personal style. Your wedding images are the biggest investment you will be making as it’s the one tangible thing that you are taking away from your wedding so it’s important that it matches your style and vision that you want to take away from your wedding day.
Secondly, the pre and post-wedding experience. For you to truly receive authentic and genuine wedding images, it’s so important that you choose a full-service wedding photographer that is there every step of the way from learning about you two, capturing your engagement session and making sure every fine detail of your images/experience perfectly matches your vision.
It gives you more time and access to your photographer than a traditional wedding as well. Most commonly, our destination wedding clients will use some of their wedding coverage so they can take more photos the following day with high impact wedding images (in a different part of the resort) or “trash-the-dress” photos where they will literally go in the water for some romantic photos with their spouse.
Also, resort photography is often restrictive in its final deliverable so bringing a photographer provides you flexibility in what you want to invest for your wedding images in terms of album options, prints and more a la carte options.
