Kitchener Wedding Venues

When planning a wedding, a Kitchener Wedding Venue will likely be one of the first vendors you choose. With all of the options for great venues in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, it’s easier to feel overwhelmed. As a wedding photographer in Kitchener, I’ve had the opportunity to interact with almost all of the wedding venues in the Kitchener and can provide some insight into some of the best vendors within the region.

The Museum (10 King St W, Kitchener, ON N2G 1A3)
In the heart of downtown Kitchener, this is one of the most unique options when it comes to wedding venues within the Waterloo Region. The large space can accommodate most wedding sizes and being located in the center of the city means parking won’t be an issue.

Hacienda Sarria (1254 Union St, Kitchener, ON N2H 6K4)
This may very well be the most luxurious wedding venue inside Kitchener. Between the Bride & Groom Suites and the Courtyard with its 40 ft ceilings, you will have more than areas to celebrate on your wedding day. The menu is world-class and features fresh & local options.

Victoria Park Pavillion (80 Schneider Ave, Kitchener, ON N2G 1K9)
With 250 person capacity, this is a great venue option for rustic weddings. The rustic event space is located in the middle of Victoria Park which is one of the oldest parks in Kitchener-Waterloo.

Walper Hotel (20 Queen St S, Kitchener, ON N2G 1V6)

Just steps from The Museum and still in Downton Kitchener, The Walper Hotel wasn’t always a hot spot for weddings but after a recent renovation, this location has been turning heads for Brides and Grooms. This retro hotel boasts 6 different room options along with a cocktail lounge and outdoor courtyard and, being a hotel, your wedding guests don’t have to go far to crash at the end of the night.

Tannery Event Centre (151 Charles St., Kitchener, ON N2G 1H6)

One of the things we love about the Tannery is that it works for wedding’s with smaller guest list, as low as 25. To be fair, they can easily handle as many as 170 on the big day. Too many options can also leave some engaged couples feeling over-whelmed so with one room you are left to turn the space into anything you imaged for your wedding day.

When selecting a great venue for your wedding here is a short list of things to consider:

  1. How does the seating capacity compare against your expected guest list? Will guest be crowded or will there be too much empty space? Don’t forget, “Maximum Capacity” doesn’t include the space set aside for the dance floor.
  2. Is your date available? This might sound obvious, but it’s important to find out right away before you get your heart set on a location that isn’t available.
  3. Who from the wedding venue will be with you on the day of the wedding to support both of you and your guests?
  4. Will the ceremony and reception take place inside the same room? If so, what’s the changeover plan?
  5. Which fees do you need to take into consideration? Plating fee, corking fee, cake cutting fee….
  6. What will the Kitchener venue decorate vs. what are you expected to look after?
  7. Does this venue have a built-in sound system for speeches and the Wedding DJ? Most Wedding DJ’s have experience working with different wedding venues in Kitchener-Waterloo, but it’s important to know the answer just in case.
  8. Is there a Bridal Suite available at the venue the day of the wedding?
  9. What’s the payment schedule for the venue? Most wedding venues in Ontario expect a deposit to reserve the location and the remainder paid 14 days before the wedding.
  10. If you’re hoping to get married on a budget, will the venue provide a discount for off-peak days or months of the year?
